Umpiring

At Lancaster & District Hockey Club, we truly value the crucial role umpires play in our sport and our community. Without them, we simply couldn't play.

We're looking for new umpires and are ready to support anyone - adults, juniors, parents, or guardians who is interested in supporting the club. The process is simple: the initial training is completed online through the England Hockey Hub.

Once you've finished the online course, we'll help you get started on the pitch. We can arrange for you to umpire a friendly or junior game to build your confidence in a low-pressure environment.

For our current and new umpires, we're dedicated to helping you develop your skills and expertise. We can arrange for further training, assessments, and coaching to help you advance your umpiring career.

If you’re looking to take your first steps into umpiring, England Hockey offers a flexible and supportive learning pathway designed to fit around your schedule.

The Level 1 Umpiring Course helps build your understanding, confidence, and enjoyment as an umpire. The blended learning module by England Hockey will help you understand the rules, grow your confidence, and contribute to a safe and fun hockey environment.
