Lancaster travelled away to play Chorley Phoenix looking to secure their first points of the season.

Starting strongly, Lancaster took the lead after a fantastic solo goal from Right-Back Molly Chapman; having picked the ball up in her own half, running the length of the field and expertly firing the ball past the keeper.

Chorley were quick to reply and despite the efforts of the team the scores were levelled.

Lancaster’s defence were put under immense pressure for the rest of the half but managed to maintain the score to half time.

The second half was initially end-to-end with Chorley having many shots on goal. On the break, Lancaster were able to take the lead when Emily Bamber-Dowthwaite picked up a loose ball in the D and coolly placed it over the line.

Disappointingly, Chorley came back instantly and scored an equaliser straight from the push-back.

Chorley continued the stronger side and pushed Lancaster to their limits. Despite this Lancaster managed to win a penalty-corner which was converted by Emma Wood to retain the lead.

Again, quick to respond Chorley had multiple attempts on goal, one of which was obstructed on the line, awarding them a Penalty-Flick which was saved by ‘Player of the Match’ goalkeeper, Rebecca Halliwell.

Chorley continued to bombard the Lancaster keeper with shots on goal and managed to equalise with 10 minutes to go. Chorley were keen for the full 3 points and intensified their attacks. Thankfully Lancaster managed to hold tight and after numerous impressive saves from Halliwell were able to take home a hard-earned 1 point.
