Lancaster's opening match of the season was at home against Preston. The home side started well with some great link passing from the back of the field all the way through to the attacking forwards.

Preston settled after the first 5 minutes and took the game on, scoring a well-worked team goal. Lancaster strived for an equaliser but Preston were the stronger side and scored again within 10 minutes.

Determined not to be beaten, Lancaster steadied and with the defence working tirelessly the home side managed to keep a clean sheet for the rest of the half. Heading into half time Lancaster were pressing hard for a goal but to no avail. 

Into the second half and Preston caught Lancaster off-guard, scoring an immediate goal from the first push back. Lancaster took their time to settle but did so as a team and managed some great linking play throughout, creating chances from both sides but not quite strong enough to get past the Preston keeper. 

Eventually a breakthrough was created with the ball picked up at the 25 line and brought into the D before being fired through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Lancaster continued in their efforts for further goals but we're unable to get past the strong Preston team. A lot of positives can be taken from the game and into the rest of the season.
