Lancaster 2s welcome Lytham St Annes 2s on Saturday. Lytham started the brighter of the two teams, the defence of Frances Archer, Beth Andrews, Kiera Langley, Emma Wood and Abi Watson were called into action from the get go. Lytham earned a flurry of short corners, finally one routine paid off and Lancaster found themselves trailing.

Lancaster were not deterred and fought back. 5 minutes before half time, Lancaster found themselves in space on the right. Ellie Blackstone crossed the ball into the D finding Lauren Allwood who calmly slotted the ball home.

The second half was end to end, 15 minutes into the second half Lytham scored another short corner routine. Lytham continued to press, Goalkeeper Rebecca Halliwell was called into action on a number of occasions. However, Lancaster bided their time and waited for Lytham to lose possession and counter broke with Amelia Welch and Mille Whitty leading from the midfield, releasing the forwards of Jess Dawson and Susie Crayton.

Lancaster pushed back but we’re unable to find an equaliser.
